Klezmer talk, Upstate Films, Saugerties, N.Y.

Seth Rogovoy will deliver his multimedia presentation, The Essential Klezmer, based on his book of the same name, at Upstate Films’ Orpheum Theatre in Saugerties, N.Y., on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 6:30pm, as part of an evening-length celebration called The Klezmer Sessions, featuring a concert by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jordan Wax and renowned klezmer clarinetist Margot Leverett.

Seth's talk takes the audience on a journey through the evolution of klezmer from Old World shtetls to New World nightclubs and concert stages. Opening the evening with a short set are Klezmer Berl’s Hotsie Totsie Orkester, a nine-piece band from Red Hook, N.Y.
